About
The unconscious mind cannot tell the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined. -Bob Proctor This course is Section G of Module 3: The Conscious & Unconscious Mind Relationship Learning Outcome Summary By the end of this learning experience, participants will be able to: Clearly distinguish between the conscious and unconscious mind and understand their roles in everyday life Explain how the conscious and unconscious minds interact and influence behavior Recognize that learning, habits, behavior, and lasting change occur primarily at the unconscious level Identify the core functions of the unconscious mind, including memory storage, emotional processing, habit formation, and goal execution Become aware of inner undercurrents such as automatic responses, triggers, and conditioned patterns Apply practical techniques such as meditation, visualization, and affirmations to positively influence the unconscious mind General Content Summary This content explores how the mind operates through two interconnected systems: the conscious and the unconscious. The conscious mind represents present-moment awareness. It is responsible for thinking, decision-making, intention-setting, and directing attention. While powerful, it manages only a small portion of mental activity. The unconscious mind includes all mental processes outside immediate awareness. It regulates automatic bodily functions, stores memories, organizes emotions, installs habits, and carries out instructions based on repeated thoughts, feelings, images, and beliefs. It communicates indirectly through symbols, emotions, imagination, stories, and metaphors, and it does not process negative instructions literally. The relationship between the two minds is often described metaphorically as a captain and crew: the conscious mind sets direction, while the unconscious mind faithfully executes once an idea is accepted. Participants also examine deep-seated desires, emotional associations, learned behaviors etc.
